KEYNOTE PRESENTATION LED BY A CHINESE DESIGN CENTER, FOLLOWED BY A KEYNOTE PANEL OF EUROPEAN VEHICLE POWER SUPPLY EXPERTS
Chinese OEMs are largely working on developing low-cost vehicles; they are equipped with converters that have 5-10% less efficiency, and lower reliability. However, they have lower costs and much better packaging density. The question for European companies how is; do we agree to this benchmarking?

KEYNOTE PRESENTATION
Right here right now, independent of voltage levels, the industry is thinking about a higher level of autonomy in future vehicles, L3 and above. These higher levels of autonomy will require more electric power than ever before. Whether it’s for steering systems, braking systems, radars or computing elements, OEMs will have higher availability requirements for power supply systems and a greater need to have a safe, robust, and functionally-safe system, similar to those found in aircraft.

PANEL DISCUSSION
To deliver 800V power, wire harness thickness and protection also have to increase. But if increasing the diameter and thickness of the harness, increases the weight of the vehicle, this is not only a drawback for the vehicle’s mileage but also an added cost. How are OEMs going to safely high-voltage from the battery without adding more weight and cost?
