Tire Industry Report: What steps are being taken to reduce emissions from tire particles?

Euro 7, the incoming regulation from the European Commission (EC), is set to usher in new standards for the automotive industry – and the clock is ticking. By 2025, new vehicles in Europe must reduce emissions to meet the European Green Deal’s zero-pollution ambitions. If adopted successfully, Euro 7 has been projected to halve road emissions by 2035.

The EC says it will “ensure cleaner vehicles on our roads and improved air quality, protecting the health of our citizens and the environment.” However, with the new rules applying to tire wear particles for the first time, reducing tire emissions is now in sharper focus than ever before. How much is Euro 7 already affecting the tire industry, and what steps are being taken to reduce tire emissions and wear?

By downloading this report, you will see that there are 'strongly agreeing' results that prove that the tire industry’s aches and pains lie with reducing tire emissions and achieving accurate testing results in doing so. The survey also focused on understanding what challenges are at the forefront when trying to become more environmentally-friendly. Can the industry achieve high quality tires that are recyclable and affordable for the automakers?

Unique Item Identifiers and Tire Information Service: Interview with Riccardo Giovannotti

Download your copy of this exclusive interview to see the outcome of the industry spending the last 6 years creating an IT platform called the Tire Information Service. The TIS can be used with a Unique Item Identifier (UII) to enhance the potential of the tire, with tire data being identified to connect the OEMs and distributors to the manufacturer database.

Automotive IQ speaks with Riccardo Giovannotti, Global Data Service Organisation (GDSO) Secretary General, to learn more on the TIS and the UII.

Plus! Riccardo shares a video example of the Tire Information Service in use!

Riccardo is doing a GDSO presentation, Tire Information Service - Connecting the Generic User with the Specific Tire Manufacturer at Automotive Tire Technology 2023, Düsseldorf, Germany, 24th, 25th & 26th January 2023, as well as coordinating the Panel Discussion, Addressing Ownership, Storage, Acquisition Usage Concerns.

Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS): Interview with Rizwan Ullah

What are TPMS? Automotive IQ interviewed Rizwan Ullah - Principal Engineer, Tyre Monitoring at Volvo Car Corporation, to learn more on Tire Pressure Monitoring System(s), including the legal requirements that are set for the tire industry and how the system works, as well as finding out the benefits for the driver.

Rizwan details how Acts signed by former US president, Barack Obama, and current US president, Joe Biden, have come into play for TPMS and the tire industry. Learn more on the FAST Act SEC. 24115.
