Main Day One Agenda - 11th September 2024

Simulation, Testing & Validation for Automated Driving Agenda for 11th September 2024.

7:30 - 8:45 REGISTRATION & REFRESHMENTS

8:45 - 9:00 AUTOMOTIVE IQ WELCOME & CHAIRPERSON'S OPENING REMARKS

9:00 - 9:30 WHAT DOES IT ACTUALLY MEAN TO GO FROM LEVEL 2 TO LEVEL 3?’ OPENING BRIEFING

Javier Ibanez - Technical Manager, Autonomous Vehicles, Groupe Renault

While there are a couple of companies that have developed L3 functionalities, the majority of the industry is very hesitant to go from L2 to L2+, with some inventing new names to like L2++ to avoid the legal conflict of going into L3, where right now responsibility and ownership of failures moves from the driver to the manufacturer.

One of the big questions right now is ‘What does getting from level two to level three actually mean?

  • This opening presentation sees an expert clearly define what L2, L2+ and L3 means, which automated driving functionalities fall under each level, and what needs to happen to go from level two, to two plus, and to level three

10:00 - 10:30 ASSESS FIRST-DATA & LESSON LEARNED FROM DEPLOYMENT OF L2/L2+L3 AUTOMATED DRIVING FUNCTIONALITIES | KEYNOTE PANEL DISCUSSION

Javier Ibanez - Technical Manager, Autonomous Vehicles, Groupe Renault
Daniel Frylmark - Solution Manager Autonomous Systems, Scania Group

We’re giving you the opportunity to hear lesson learned from companies that are actually doing the work; see automotive visionaries on stage as they share details on what they are doing, how they are doing it, what challenges they are facing when deploying AD functionalities and how they are solving them.

  • Hear the OEMs complete lifecycle journey from end-to-end system design to deployment.
  • Understand what first-data is telling OEMs about automated driving functionalities; are vehicles performing as OEMs envisioned? What does data tell us about vehicle performance, safety features and specific events including accidents.
  • Understand what type of data is crucial to have to measure system performance.
  • Learn which type of data is currently missing and would be a must-have to use to as key performance indicator.
  • Get details on what lessons have been learned post-deployment in relation to the OEM’s simulation, testing and validation methodologies.
  • Hear recommendations on how to make the journey towards higher levels of autonomy, and the merits/demerits of adopting specific pathways.

10:30 - 11:00 USER ACCEPTANCE FOR AUTOMATED DRIVING FUNCTIONALITIES IN GERMANY & REST OF EUROPE | AUDIENCE DISCUSSION

The industry is beginning to receive first data from deployment of automated vehicles. What does this data tell us about user acceptance, especially in Germany where drivers not only sceptical of automated driving but also ‘drive with pride’ with a resistance to change from manual gearboxes to automatic gearboxes.

  • Join your peers and find out what first-data tells us about user acceptance for automated driving functionalities in Germany and surrounding countries.

11:00 - 11:30 MORNING NETWORKING BREAK & NETWORKING IN THE EXHIBITION AREA

SECTION ON: AUTOMATED DRIVING SIMULATION

11:30 - 12:00 HOW A LEADING OEM IS USING SIMULATION TO REDUCE COSTS, INCREASE SAFETY, & MAXIMISE PERFORMANCE OF THE FINAL SYSTEM | PRESENTATION

Jayesh Jain - Vehicle System Simulation Engineer, Iveco Group

This OEM-led presentation gives you a look at opportunities simulation presents to reduce cost, increase safety, and maximise performance.

  • Understand advantages of an accurate simulation, when it should be used, and how it can simplify the testing phase.
  • Find out what which indicators can be used to compare the performance of the function.
  • Understand when to use real data versus simulation data, and when to fuse both data sets to reduce cost.
  • Gain insight into how to assess & prove the validity of the simulation, and ensure your testing and development is reliable.
